This is a true saying, if a man desire the office of a bishop, he desireth a good work.

Let the elders that rule well be counted worthy of double honour, especially they who labour in the word and doctrine.  1 Timothy 3:1, 5:17

The qualifications for shepherds in the Lord's church are laid out in 1 Timothy 3:1-7

and Titus 1:5-9.  You are encouraged to review those qualifications.  Elders are,

as the term implies, older men.  They are men who have reached an age

where they have acquired wisdom, judgment, and experience. T hey

are, however, ordinary men who, like all mortal men, are

not infallible and should always encourage their

congregation to search the Bible for

the truth.
